I’m Aaron Woods, and I’m running to be your next State Senator!
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Aaron Woods and I am running for State Senate, District 13. I am running to bring my more than 30 years of business and IT services experience to our capital building. I know that for our businesses, students and community at large to be competitive in a digitally connected society, we must ensure we have equal access to affordable High-Speed Broadband Services, expanded career and technical education programs, and affordable housing opportunities. I hope that you will share your concerns and ideas as I bring a new voice to our state capital. I have been honored to call this community home for over 25 years and am excited to serve you as your next State Senator.
What are my priorities?
Promote access to Affordable High-Speed Broadband Services
- In our digitally connected society, the need for affordable high-speed internet has become a right and not a “nice to have”. I will work to expand access to high-speed internet to all areas of the state and to ensure equal access to the digital universe. I will work to fund and support Progressive Digital Skills Pathways for everyone in Oregon. As a 30 year executive in the IT industry, I know how to speak the language and have seen the benefits of increased access to internet services.
Expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs and Workforce Development
- Through my work with Digitunity as well as my service on the Board of Directors for Clackamas Community College, I understand that workforce development doesn’t just happen with our small businesses. I will work to increase high quality career pathways in technology through comprehensive skills development programs. I believe that through working with local school boards, industry and business chambers to provide experiences, we can develop the next generation of leaders and technical experts right here at home.
Support Affordable Middle Housing
- Housing affordability in nearly every corner of the State is reaching a crisis level. I believe that we need diverse middle housing options to ensure equal access for all income levels and household needs. As our baby boomer generation ages, we need to work to develop age in place housing that doesn’t require our neighbors to move outside of our communities to find affordable and practical housing options. Younger community members shouldn’t be forced to live outside of communities that they work in simply because they are priced out of those neighborhoods.
Develop fully encompassed services for Seniors
- The severe heat and ice storms of the past year have proven that we aren’t doing enough to ensure the safety and livability of our neighborhoods for our senior populations. I believe we need to broaden our services and expectations for those vulnerable populations, to ensure that they have the tools they need to thrive in all communities throughout our State.
I Am Excited To Bring My Vision To Salem To Work On Your Behalf. I Look Forward To Earning Your Vote.
